How to help protect our bears, and decrease your chance of an encounter

This summer, Blaine County has seen an increase of human bear conflicts. There are several steps we each can take to help prevent a bear encounter and to help save a bears life. One of the most simple steps is to store your garbage in a secure location, and to wait to take it out until the day of pick up. If you are camping in the area, make sure to store your food in a secure camper or vehicle or food storage bin, and keep all odorized items away from your tent.

For more information on wildlife in our area you can visit the Wildlife page on the Blaine County website or visit the Wildlife Smart Communities website.
